The doctor and the nurse will stand trial over the brachiotomy
The Russian Prosecutor’s Office has brought into court matter concerning the anesthesiologist - expert in resuscitation of the Krasnodar Specialized clinical infectious hospital Vladimir Pilipenko and the nurse of the same hospital Elena Senicheva, as was informed on the site of the Russian Prosecutor’s Office.
Investigators believe that actions of the accused became the direct reason of brachiotomy of two-months baby Sofia Kulivets delivered to the hospital with the diagnosis “whooping cough “.
Investigation set that on December, 30, 2006 Sofia Kulivets had been delivered to the infectious hospital with whooping cough. At attempt to establish catheter to inject a medicine the nurse, over the supervision of the doctor, has wrongly entered a needle in the right cubital artery, which results in therefore thrombosis. As the subsequent treatment appeared inefficient in a week time doctors have made the decision about amputation.
According to the Prosecutor’s Office, medicolegal report proved the direct causal effect.
